Short Passage Studies

NEVER READ A BIBLE VERSE

One simple rule that ALWAYS applies to Bible study: Never read a Bible verse.

The easiest way to misuse Scripture is to take it out of context. Always read at least one paragraph to understand the author's message properly. I've provided some short passages of Scripture below that are often taken out of context and, therefore, used inappropriately. Reading over these verse studies might help us improve our interpretative skills.

Matthew 18:18-20

Whatsoever you bind...

Psalm 46

Be still and know that I am God...

Psalm 42 & 43

As the deer pants for streams of water...

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray...

Jeremiah 29:11

I know the plans I have for you...
